Persimmon Seedlings

from $12.00

These are bareroot persimmon seedlings, 12”-24” inches tall on average (with taproots 10”-18” long).

Multiple species offered:

  • “Northern” 90-chromosome race of Diospyros virginiana. These are vigorous seedlings grown from the best American persimmons sourced from all-cultivar orchards. Persimmon trees come in male and female and a range of intersex combinations. It is recommended to plant at least 3-6 trees in order to get some productive female fruiting trees in the mix.

  • “Southern” 60-chromosome race of Diospyros virginiana. The 60n and 90n types are effectively different species. These are seeds of good fruiting parent trees hardy to zones 6-7.

  • Hybrid seedlings. Mother trees generally 50:50 mix of Asian and American persimmon. Open-pollinated, so the pollen parent could be an American or an Asian persimmon.

  • Diospyros kaki seedlings from known parentage.
